My Approach

I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

DSC_7882You are the primary source of directing your own life and health. The food you eat becomes your blood, your tissues, your organs, hair, nails etc. What comes on your plate, becomes you!

Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbs, fats and proteins. Instead of creating restrictions and lists of good and bad foods, I coach my clients to create a happy, healthy life, free of denial and strict discipline. We will add all the good stuff to your plate rather than taking the stuff away.

Together we will work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximising energy. As we work together, you will develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

Here are some concepts that we will explore during our work together:

Primary Food versus Secondary Food

What you eat becomes secondary, if primary foods (healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual practise) are not in balance. It is not just the food we eat that feeds us, it is what you put on your skin and how you live your life that will bring a total sense of balance.

Bio-Individuality

The concept is based on the fact, that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison. We will explore your unique dietary needs based on your lifestyle choices and ancestral background.

Alkaline vs Acidic

All food can generally be divided into two groups, alkaline forming and acid forming. Your blood and bodily fluids ph should be 7,4; slightly alkaline. If you eat too much of acid forming food, your body will constantly try to return to a more balanced state by calling on your stored reserves of alkaline minerals: sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium. Keeping your body slightly alkaline is vital to restoring your health. Acidity leads to chronic fatigue, arthritis, allergies, cancer and obesity!

Food Energetics

Ever thought that by eating food you take on its energy properties too? Every food has a specific personality and character. If you eat root vegetables, for example carrots, you will feel more grounded while leafy green vegetables will provide you with lightness. Isn’t that fascinating? I believe you should nourish your body with the best available food you can find and which fits within your budget.
