Time to get rolling! Start sowing NOW!

Dear gardeners, outdoor enthusiasts and all those of you, who find growing your own veggies and herbs exciting! Somehow, summer felt extremely long this year for me. I am not sure if it was due to lots of changes going on in my life. I quit my old job in order to embark on much more awarding path in my life. While I totally agree, that we are nowhere close to ‘reasonable’ temperatures, there is already so much you can do to prepare your garden (or window sill) for the next season. Start up with a small herb garden

You will be surprised how the taste of your salads and other dishes will change. Nothing can replace herbs you have just picked yourself from your own yard; the flavours and the spectrum of nutrients are beyond imagination.   Those of you living in Dubai are very fortunate, because you can have a beautiful pot of fresh herbs in no time! We grow watercress in just over 4 days in our garden now in winter. It tastes so delicious on our bread!  Your parsley, coriander, basil or rosemary will take little longer than a day, so be patient! There is nothing more rewarding than watching your own plants grow. Surround yourself with the pots in your garden or on your balcony, or simply keep them well visible in your kitchen where you can enjoy their presence and taste. You don’t need to be an experienced gardener. Anyone willing to participate in wonders of life can do it. All you need is: good quality seeds few pots potting soil paper towels/ coffee filters pair of gardening gloves hand shovel Before you put the seeds in soil, you might want to try few on a wet paper towel to ensure, they sprout well. Place either paper towel or coffee filter on the bottom of each pot and fill the pot up with soil ( I mix my potting soil with some sand). If you plan to blend your herbs in your... Read More
